Monday

  • No journal prompt today.
  • Finish Phrases and Clauses Review from Friday.  Discuss and solve any struggles.

Tuesday

  • Respond to the following journal prompt in your online journal:  Trending Tuesday:  What is something GOOD that you think SHOULD be trending?
  • Finish imitating hooks (cont. From last Wednesday).

Wednesday

  • Respond to the following journal prompt:  Wise Words Wednesday:  “You must never feel badly about making mistakes…as long as you take the trouble to learn from them.  For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than you do by being right for the wrong reasons.” ~Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth  Explain what you think this quote means in your own words.  How could the lesson of this quote be helpful to you?
  • Pick a hook from Tuesday’s notes and write an introduction, complete with bridge and thesis (in your notebook–highlight each part in a different color).

Thursday

  • Respond to a journal prompt:   Therapy Thursday–What is the BEST way to cheer you up when you’re upset/angry?  Explain why.
  • Finish writing introductions.

 Friday

  • Respond to a journal prompt in your online writing journal–Free-write Friday:  Write about anything you want as long as you don’t mind if I read it.
  • Type a final copy of introduction on a new Google doc–title it “Introduction.”  Highlight each part of the introduction in a different color, and label what each color means.
  • Review for Nine Weeks Exam on Monday.

When you are absent…

Students,

When you are absent, always make sure to check in on Google Classroom.  I have tried to attach everything needed for the daily lessons so that you can keep up and so that you don’t have to track me down for work.  I hope everyone is getting well as I am also out with the flu and strep!

Complete Dailies assignment–read paragraph and identify/discuss grammatical structures (from Mary Ellen Ledbetter)

Respond to a journal prompt:  Throwback Thursday–What is something we’ve done in class this year that you would like to do again?  Explain why.
