First of all, I apologize for not putting lessons on this week. All students have been working diligently on our novels, and I have to say, many of them are so creative! I am so proud! Students received a checklist from me in Google Classroom at the beginning of the week which shows them what has to be done by the end of each week between now and December 13. This checklist is organized by levels, and as they complete each level, they earn not only the grades for what they have completed, but also new privileges they can enjoy in class. Click here for a copy of that checklist!
Also, today in 8th grade only, every core class is allowing our students to work on their novels as well as the assignments in their novel workbooks. We are having what’s called a “Write-in,” and I am so thankful to all of the teachers in other disciplines who are being so supportive! By November 30, our students must reach their word-count goals in order to receive goodies from the NaNoWriMo organization, and some of our students have already reached their goals.
Some students who struggle with writing need to also take time at home. I know that no one wants to work over a holiday, but they may need to in order to reach their goals and finish the required work.
This has been an exciting project, and a few teachers have even gotten involved in the fun by writing their own novels! Make sure to ask your child about their novels and check out the great work they have done.
