  • Respond to the following journal prompt in your Google journal:  Mindset Monday–How can we be more mindful of the tasks we are required to do?
  • Quiz over Word Study List 5.
  • Go over plans for this week’s benchmarks.

  • Math Benchmark (Only 6-8 periods will meet today.)

Wednesday

  • Reading Benchmark (Only 6-8 periods will meet today.)

Thursday

  • Respond to the following journal prompt in your Google journal:  Thoughtful Thursday–Do you think that technology is making us more alone?  Explain your answer.
  • Paste notes over Persuasive Techniques in English comp books.
  • Complete persuasive techniques group activity.

Friday

  • Write five complex sentences, using dependent clauses as interrupters.
  • Take notes in English comp book about rhetorical strategies (ethos, pathos, logos) and watch Shmoop video about them.

  • Begin introduction to our Power of Persuasion unit–what makes words powerful?  How can we use language in a powerful way?
  • Watch persuasive speeches and discuss what makes them effective and powerful.

Wednesday

  • Respond to the following journal prompt in your Google journal–Title: Would You Rather Wednesday–Would you rather be able to control the weather or talk to animals?
  • Participate in group activity–persuasive speech analysis
  • Finish No Red Ink lessons on subordinate conjunctions.

Thursday

  • Complete the five sentence activity posted on Classroom–creating complex sentences–discuss as a class.
  • Complete quiz over subordinate conjunctions and relative pronouns.
